The score album for Summit Entertainment's epic adventure Ender's Game, featuring music composed by Steve Jablonsky, will be available in stores and through all digital retailers on October 22, 2013 on Varèse Sarabande Records, the label announced today. Jablonsky brings his composing experience to the film, experimenting with musical sound design in which he took human vocal recordings and processed them heavily to create an otherworldly vocal sound. Summit Entertainment, a LIONSGATE company, will release Ender's Game nationwide on November 1, 2013.
"Ender's Game is big but also very personal, which is an interesting combination for any composer," says Jablonsky. "For some scenes, I'm using an 80 piece orchestra and 32 member choir, while in other scenes I am using a simple solo instrument. Ender is a very isolated character for much of the film so I felt that a solo cello would play that isolation nicely and it became an important element in the score."
Steve Jablonsky has composed the music for many of Hollywood's most famous blockbusters, including Michael Bay's Transformers, the smash sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and the third installment of the successful franchise, Transformers: Dark of the Moon. He recently wrote the scores for Pain & Gain, Battleship and Gangster Squad. His other credits include The Island, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror and Steamboy, among other credits. Jablonsky also composed the music for ABC's Desperate Housewives and the award-winning HBO movie Live from Baghdad.
Ender's Game stars Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, with Abigail Breslin and Harrison Ford. It is written for the screen and directed by Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine). Summit Entertainment, which co-financed the film with OddLot Entertainment, produced the project with OddLot and Digital Domain.
