Two time Academy Award nominated composer Marco Beltrami scores Trouble with the Curve, opening September 21, 2012. The film's all star cast includes Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, and John Goodman. This is the first film Eastwood has starred in but not directed in nine years (In the Line of Fire). The film marks the first feature-length directorial debut of Robert Lorenz, Eastwood's Assistant Director for 15 years, with projects including Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River, and Blood Work. Varese Sarabande will release the soundtrack album for Trouble with the Curve October 2, 2012. Composer Marco Beltrami provides an emotional score that supports the touching relationship between father and daughter and also the heroics of the game of baseball.
Beltrami's original score incorporates soloists, including elements of acoustic guitar, harp, and various other woodwinds to create an understated yet deceptively simple score. Additionally, Beltrami recorded with a full orchestra at the Warner Bros. Eastwood Scoring Stage (named after Eastwood for his contribution to the renovation) to give scope to the bigger musical moments in the film. "The music needed a delicate balance to support the film and to further support the emotion without getting in the way of the actors' great performances," explained Beltrami.
Composer Marco Beltrami established an early reputation as a genre innovator with non-traditional horror scores for the Scream franchise, The Woman in Black, and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark. Beltrami's musical palette has since expanded to virtually all film genres. He has received accolades for his musical style including Oscar nominations for Best Original Score for Hurt Locker and 3:10 to Yuma. He has received two Critic's Choice Award nominations, and he was Emmy nominated for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series for The Practice. Last year, he won the Golden Satellite Award for Best Score from The International Press Academy for Soul Surfer. Marco Beltrami has just completed scoring The Sessions starring John Hawkes and Helen Hunt which opens in limited release October 26.
